Board approves tentative budget for 2020-21
At a meeting on July 27, the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education reviewed the tentative budget for 2020-21. The proposed balanced budget projects $144,758,042 in direct expenditures. Included in the proposed budget is a one-time transfer of $1,500,000 from the Operations and Maintenance Fund to the Capital Projects Fund to support approved facility modernization, including upgrades to the nurses office at each school.

At its meeting on January 27, the D225 Board of Education recognized the GBN Kids 4 the Cure Club, known for its efforts to raise cancer awareness. The students are driven by their desire to make a difference in the lives of families that face cancer.
GBS senior leads STEM community, inspires younger students
Elizabeth (Ellie) Welch-Jani, 16, is a senior at Glenbrook South. Her STEM interests have led her to earn top honors in astrophysics, tutor her peers, and co-organize a local Science Olympiad competition for middle school students.

A Letter to the Community: Dr. Charles Johns
As your new superintendent of Glenbrook District 225, I’ve been fortunate to spend a substantial amount of time, throughout the spring and early summer, learning about the community, our staff, and our students. I have enjoyed a wide range of community interactions such as walking in the parades, meetings with municipal leaders and visiting with students in summer school.
Board approves tentative budget for 2019-20
At a regular meeting on July 29, the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education reviewed the tentative budget for 2019-20. The proposed budget projects $187,715,308 in expenditures. Included in the proposed budget is the use of $7.1 million of district reserves for improvements to life safety and other school facility enhancement projects.
Enrollment for the 2019-20 school year begins
Each year parents are asked to enroll their child(ren) for school, and verify residency by completing an online process in PowerSchool. The process is divided into five steps, providing an opportunity for parents to confirm contact information, identify emergency contacts, review school policies and procedures, and confirm athletic participation interest. We estimate that the process will take 5-10 minutes to complete for each child.

Illinois Records Act requirements
In accordance with Illinois statute, Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools will destroy temporary records for the class of 2014 graduates, on June 30, 2019.
Bus passes can now be purchased for next year
Parents/Guardians can purchase a bus pass for the 2019-20 school year beginning Monday, April 8, 2019. Bus passes can be purchased online through the PowerSchool Parent Portal and our payment processing service, e~Funds for Schools, or in-person at the Glenbrook North or Glenbrook South bookstore.
New courses proposed for 2019-20 school year
On Monday, January 14, the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education reviewed new courses and modifications recommended by the administration for the 2019-20 school year.
Titans aim to boost self-sustainability abroad
Students took initiative this winter by helping out a non-profit organization that aims to nationally spread bracelets, known as pulseras in Spanish, and bags, known as bolsas, which are made by people in Nicaragua and Guatemala.
District 225 adopts estimated property tax levy
On November 12, the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education approved its levy request for 2018 property taxes to support district operations in the amount of $109,945,711. This levy request represents an increase of 4.4 percent, over last year’s property tax revenue. The percentage increase is based on a 2.1 percent increase for inflation as determined by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), along with a 2.3 percent estimate to capture new property growth within the tax base.
District announces new safety and security manager
At their regular meeting on July 30, the District 225 Board of Education approved the hiring of Mr. Joel Reyes for the newly created position of district safety and security manager. Reyes will work in partnership with school and district leadership teams in efforts to improve security and safety for students and staff.
Board approves budget for 2018-19
At a regular meeting on September 24, the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education voted to adopt the final budget for 2018-19 school year. The approved operating budget is balanced and projects $127,864,256 in both revenues and expenditures.
School calendar discussion
As part of the student wellness initiative, the district has been considering a transition to a school calendar that will allow for final exams and the completion of the first semester prior to the winter break.
D225, support staff enter new four-year contract
On Thursday, May 31, the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education approved a new four-year collective bargaining agreement with the Glenbrook Educational Support Staff Association (GESSA).
