Spotlight Students
Pierson Stringer, GBS class of 2024, discovered his passion for fashion and graphics in middle school. Thanks to his creativity and dedication, his skills in digital design caught the attention of industry professionals, which led to collaborations with famous artists such as Future and Chris Brown. Stringer credits his success to the graphic design program at GBN, which has taught him essential skills, including patience.
Dominik Grzeszczak, GBS class of 2025, has spent the past three years volunteering as a lab assistant in Career and Technology Education (CTE) classes while pursuing his passion for engineering. Inspired by a childhood fascination with electrical engineering, he actively helps his peers grasp complex concepts through practical application. In addition to his role as a lab assistant, Grzeszczak is deeply involved in various extracurricular activities at GBS.

Lisa Pavic, a biology teacher at GBS, is passionate about embracing innovative teaching methods, including the Next Generation Science Standards and Storyline curriculum. Recognized for her excellence in education, Pavic has received awards such as the Excellence in Biology Education Award and the PreK-12 Educator Excellence Award.
Sam Alex, Dean’s Instructional Assistant at Glenbrook North, is a nationally recognized radio host for “The Sam Alex Show.” With over 20 years in country music broadcasting and a nomination for "National Broadcast Personality of the Year" by the Country Music Association, he also runs "Camp Broadcast," a program for aspiring journalists and broadcasters.
Learning Opportunities & Environments
Experiential learning is a key element of the four distinct areas that we incorporate into our comprehensive high school experience. For example, we are dedicated to providing opportunities for students to learn skills and serve the community. This commitment dates back nearly fifty years with the establishment of service-oriented clubs like the Key Club and the Interact Club. Eventually, these two clubs merged to become Spartan Service Club, an organization of student members from both GBN and GBS who build their leadership skills while serving the community.
At the GBN Preschool, students participate in experiential learning with hands-on teaching experience. This progressive initiative gives students valuable, real-world skills with the option of earning college credit. Similarly, through the INCubator program, students develop entrepreneurial skills from idea conception to market research and pitching. They also connect with Glenbrooks alumni, which enriches their scholarship and expands their professional networks while in high school.
