Bus Services
Glenbrook High School District 225 contracts with Safeway Transportation Services and First Student of Northbrook to provide safe, reliable bus transportation to students who purchase an annual bus pass.
Students are required to show a student ID (digital IDs are acceptable) upon boarding the bus.
Bus Company Update
During the week of August 12, 2024, our transportation partner, Safeway Transportation Services, informed us of a shortage of school bus drivers that may impact route coverage as the new school year begins. While Safeway has successfully recruited and hired additional drivers, the licensure and onboarding process will take several weeks to complete. To ensure all routes are fully staffed on the first day of school, we have partnered with Safeway and First Student of Northbrook to provide bus service for the 2024-25 school year.
To ensure consistency and continuity of service for our families, bus services will be provided as follows:
- Glenbrook North - First Student
- Glenbrook Off Campus - First Student
- Glenbrook South - Safeway (15 routes) and First Student (2 routes)
We are grateful to Safeway for proactively working with the school district to problem-solve this situation and to First Student for helping us ensure that all students are safely transported to and from school.
Routes and Stops
Bus routes and stops are created using the addresses of students who purchase bus passes by July 15. We strongly encourage families to purchase their bus pass early to benefit from a more convenient bus stop. Bus passes purchased after July 15 are assigned to an existing route only if space is available (We are unable to make exceptions to this guideline). We do not accept requests to add additional bus stops.
The following parameters are utilized when designing routes:
- 45-60 minute routes (inclusive of road/traffic conditions)
- Routes utilize major streets and stop at appropriate intersections (buses do not enter subdivisions)
- Two students in each seat/bench
- Minimize the need for students to cross over streets with significant traffic or construction projects
Routes and stops are subject to change due to road/traffic conditions and other factors beyond our control. Changes are announced by email as soon as possible.
Bus routes will be made available on this website, and emailed to parents and students that will be riding the bus no later than the Monday before the first day of school.
