Summer School

The Board of Education for District 225 has established a policy for academic integrity. The academic integrity policy established for the regular school year will also be in effect during summer school. Any student who violates the academic integrity policy may be withdrawn from summer school without credit.
 
Academic Dishonesty includes such infractions as:
Obtaining a copy of tests or scoring devices
Accepting a copy of tests or scoring devices.
Copying another student’s answers during an examination
Providing another student with answers to or copies of examination questions
Having another person impersonate the student to assist the student academically
Impersonating another student to assist the student academically
Representing as one’s own work the product of someone else’s creativity
Using, or having available for use, notes, telecommunication devices, or other unpermitted materials during “closed book” examinations
Duplicating any portion of another student’s homework, paper, project, laboratory report, take-home examination, electronic file, or application for submission as one's own work, other than for a teacher-approved collaborative effort.Having someone other than the student prepare any portion of the student’s homework, paper, project, laboratory report, take-home examination, electronic file, or application, other than for a teacher-approved collaborative effort.
Permitting another student to copy any portion of another student’s homework, paper, project, laboratory report, take-home examination, electronic file, or application other than for a teacher-approved collaborative effort
Using any portion of copyrighted or published material, including but not limited to electronic or print media, without crediting the source
Any other action intended to obtain credit for work that is not one’s own

One day of summer school is equivalent to one week of classroom instruction.  Students are expected to arrive on time and attend all class sessions, including the final exam date.  Tardiness of up to fifteen minutes will be considered tardy; any tardiness after fifteen minutes will be considered an absence. Students who return to class late after a break will be considered tardy. Students who are tardy by fifteen minutes or less on two occasions will be counted as absent.   If a student is absent for more than two class sessions, they will be dropped from the course with a grade of “WF”, and no refund will be provided. 

There are no excused absences (even school-related trips) during summer school. All absences are recorded as unexcused.

Students may not miss the final exam.

• All returning students are required to bring their Chromebook or electronic device to class.
• All incoming freshmen who are attending summer school can pick up their Chromebook at Glenbrook North bookstore beginning TBD.

A schedule listing the course, starting date and class time will be emailed the week of June 1, 2026.

During summer school, students are expected behave. in the same manner as during the school year.  Inappropriate behavior is not tolerated.  Student course enrollments will be canceled and no refund will be provided for behavior that is out of compliance with Board Policy and Student Rights and Responsibilities.

During the summer, we expect the same behavior as is expected during the school year. Inappropriate behavior is not tolerated. Inappropriate behavior that is out of compliance with the current versions of Board Policy and Student Rights and Responsibilities documents located on the District website may result in a student being dropped from class with a grade of WF, and families will not receive a refund.

Textbooks and other instructional materials for summer school are included in the tuition cost.  Material distribution will be facilitated by the GBS Bookstore, dates to be announced.

The Glenbrook North Bookstore is open to students from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on days when class is in session. The Bookstore can be reached via phone at (847) 509-2409  or by email at gbnbookstore@glenbrook225.org.

Payment is due at the time of registration.

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your payment using a credit card, debit card, or e-check. There are no additional fees for payment transactions.

To withdraw from a class, contact the summer school office at summerschool@glenbrook225.org or 847-486-4748.  Full refunds will be provided by request until Friday, May 22, 2026; no refund will be provided after that time.

Final examinations are given on the last day of each semester. Students may not miss the final exam. 

Students should park in the North end student lot. All drop off and pick up should be at the main entrance Door A, or Door GG located in the North lot.

There will be NO BUS transportation provided for summer school. 

If a student has not been pre-approved to register for a specific course in which they are interested they should contact their school counselor to discuss the approval of that course.

A Glenbrook North and a Glenbrook South school counselor will be available during summer school hours to discuss:

• any issues that may arise during summer school
• signing off on audit and pass/fail forms
• how the summer school class impacts the students schedule in the Fall

An audit is an indication on the transcript that a student attended a particular class where no credit is issued. Any student taking an audit must adhere to all class and summer school policies. A student-initiated audit must have both teacher and parent approval and be filed in the Summer School Office within the first two days of the summer school semester. Audit forms may not be turned in before the start of summer school. Teacher-initiated audits can be done anytime during the summer school semester.

Students must comply with the regulations of the home school when choosing the pass/fail option. This elected option must be made within the first two days of the summer school semester. A parent signature is required to elect this option. For GBN/GBS differences, please refer to the Parent/Student Handbook (GBN / GBS)  of your particular school. Pass/Fail forms may not be turned in before the start of summer school.

A withdrawal (“W”) from a summer school class can only occur within the first two days of summer school. A “WF” which is a withdrawal with a failing grade will occur at the discretion of the summer school directors or the deans.

Grades for summer school courses are listed on a student’s transcript and will be included in the student’s GPA. (This provision includes summer school courses taken in the summer prior to freshman year.)
 

Grades will be available in powerschool for the first semester courses in July and second semester courses in August. No grades will be given out by phone.

Students will receive one 10 minute break and one 20 minute lunch during the course of their day. 
 

Yes, Quest, the district's food services vendor, will be open and offer snacks and limited lunch menu items. Returning students can pay using cash or through their lunch account. Incoming freshmen and out of district students can purchase items using cash only.

The students will be notified of their exact schedule on the first day of summer school.

More detailed information will be shared at the MANDATORY parent/student information night held at GBN in May 2026. At this meeting, the registered student will take their permit test and vision exam. The parents will be updated on our Driver’s Education Program.
