Glenbrook Academy of International Studies

Founded in 1981, the Glenbrook Academy of International Studies is a nationally recognized program integrating the teaching and learning of English, Social Studies and World Languages for students in Glenbrook High School District 225.

The World Language for the Class of 2030 will be Mandarin Chinese.

Application Process for the Class of 2030

  • Online Application
    • Create a copy of the Activities and Awards and Personal Statement document; rename using the following format: Last name, first name. Complete the information requested in the document.
    • Save as a PDF (File>Download>PDF) and upload to the appropriate portion of the Google form after filling in the other information requested. Please note: In order to enable the document uploads requested by this form, you must use a Google account.
    • Ask a parent or guardian to complete the Statement of Parental Endorsement portion of the Google form and submit the completed form by January 14, 2026.
  • Recommendation Requests
    • Request recommendations from one English, one social studies, and one world language teacher you have had in either 7th or 8th grade. Teachers will submit their confidential recommendations using this form. Please note: In order to enable the document upload requested by this form, teachers must use a Google account.
    • Teachers must return their recommendations by January 23, 2026
  • Interviews and Impromptu Writing
    • On January 14, 2026 all applicants will complete the final two steps of the application process—impromptu writing and a group interview with Academy faculty and current students. At this time, we plan to conduct the writing and interviews in person at Glenbrook South High School, in the Lyceum at 4 p.m.
  • Communication of Admission Status 
    • On February 6, 2026 (after school), each applicant will be sent an email containing The Academy’s final decision on placement.  In the meantime, all applicants should complete the high school registration materials required of all eighth graders. Those eighth graders placed into The Academy will be rescheduled by guidance counselors later this spring.
  • Confirmation of Admission
    • By February 10, 2026, all students who have been admitted to the Academy are required to communicate their acceptance or rejection of the offer by email.
