Bookstore

All students are required to have a student ID with them at all times when on campus.  These IDs are used by students throughout the school year to check out materials from the library, make purchases in the bookstore and cafeteria, attend athletic and social events, and check into different areas of the school.

This digital tool allows students to access their student ID from a smartphone. To get started, new students will first need to upload a photo of themselves, and then download an ID. Please review our Your Glenbrook Digital ID instructions for more information.  Please note the following:

• New Students will need to submit a photo for approval prior to downloading their digital ID.
• Returning Students that do not want to submit a new picture can proceed to step 7 and immediately download their ID.
• For those students that do not have a smartphone, or prefer a physical ID, one can be obtained in-person from the Glenbrook North or Glenbrook South Bookstore.  (All students are eligible for one student ID card each year at no cost, replacement IDs are available at a cost of $5.)

All required instructional materials will be provided to students through a single annual fee.  The fee includes textbooks (electronic or print editions), novels, workbooks, course kits, and other supplies.  (Note: calculators, locks, heart rate monitor straps, and gym uniforms can be purchased separately from the bookstore.)

In order to keep the instructional materials fee as low as possible, certain textbooks will need to be returned at the end of the school year.  Similar to library books, all returnable materials have gold labels and indicate that they are returnable.

Calculator Purchases

GBN and GBS bookstores sell calculators for students to use in their math and science classes. The following can be purchased through the bookstore:

GBN

• TI-NSpire CX II CAS
• TI-Nspire CX II

GBS

• TI-NSpire CX II CAS

Please note: that CAS-equipped calculators are not permitted on the ACT. They are however, supported in all GBN and GBS math courses and permitted on all of College Board's calculator-permitted tests, including the SAT and the AP calculus, chemistry, physics and statistics exams. 

Responsibilities and Care

A Chromebook is a delicate electronic device and must be treated with care. By signing this document, it is agreed that students and families will:

• Not leave the device unattended;
• Keep food or drink away from the device;
• Adhere to insurance guidelines as documented below;
• Pay the annual fee online or at the annual book sale event;
• Notify the bookstore immediately if the device is lost and reimburse the district for the replacement cost; and
• Return the unpaid device or pay the final installments if the student leaves the district, or it shall be considered theft.

Payment

A total fee of $300 will be charged, payable in $100 increments each year, and is to be paid online or at the bookstore. The annual fee will be waived for students qualifying for free and reduced lunch and those with identified assistive technology needs. As part of this fee, student devices are covered by a manufacturer warranty (defect or failure) ending with the last day of the student’s first school year. Families are eligible for the insurance coverage as outlined below. Students will be provided with a loaner device at no charge during any repair process.

Insurance Coverage

Each eligible insurance incident will be assessed as a claim deductible. The deductible will be $50 for claims that result in a device repair.  If the damage or loss is such that the device cannot be repaired and a full replacement is needed, the deductible will be $100. (Deductibles will not be waived for students qualifying for free and reduced lunch). All claims must be filed within 5 days of the incident. Incidents include:

• Accidental damage caused by liquid spills, drops, or any other unintentional event;
• Vandalism, Theft, Fire (requires a police report be filed, where the device is listed as stolen);
• Electrical surge;
• Natural disasters; and
• Warranty issues outside of the warranty period.
• Insurance coverage for Chromebooks will remain in effect until the last day of student attendance at the Glenbrooks.

Items Note Covered By Insurance/ Responsibility of Family

If a Chromebook is not covered by the insurance program, it will be the responsibility of the family to purchase a replacement device. The cost of a replacement Chromebook is $300. Examples of situations that are not covered by the insurance program include:

• Loss of device;
• Dishonest, fraudulent, intentional, negligent, or criminal acts;
• Consumables including but not limited to the case, charger, digital stylus, and software;
• Cosmetic damage that does not affect the functionality of the device; and
• Incidents reported outside of the allowed period of time.
