What:  GBN Stands for the Silent sponsored by Glenbrook High School Foundation

Presenter: Stand for the Silent founder Kirk Smalley. Stand for the Silent  started in 2010 in Oklahoma City, OK when a group of high school students  was moved to action after hearing the story of 11-year-old Ty Field-Smalley, who took his own life after being bullied for more than two years. Stand for the Silent serves as a platform to allow his parents, Kirk and Laura Smalley, to share their experience and offer education and tools to prevent their tragedy from being repeated. Stand for the Silent, along with Ty Field-Smalley’s story, was featured in the film The Bully Project (2012), and the Smalleys met with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama on the occasion of the first White House conference on bullying. Stand for the Silent is presented by GBN Stands for the Silent and by the Glenbrook High School Foundation. The presentation is appropriate for students of junior high age and older; all parents, educators, and community members are welcome. There is no charge to attend and no reservations are required. Attendees will have the opportunity to support Stand for the Silent through donations or the purchase of SFTS merchandise.
