On March 15, 2021, in a unanimous vote, the District 225 Board of Education approved the implementation of a registration and instructional materials fee for the 2021-2022 school year.
Discussions on registration and instructional material fees began in February with the Board of Education. The process to consolidate registration and material fees began during the 2018-2019 school year when the District started eliminating all course fees, with the exception of driver education. Prior to this consolidation, students would be charged $8 - $50 per course, in addition to textbooks and other materials.
For the 2021-2022 school year, parents will have a combined registration ($25.50) and instructional materials fee ($274.50) of $300.00 per student. Families that are experiencing financial hardship are strongly encouraged to submit a confidential application for the school district’s financial assistance program. The District will waive all fees for students who participate in the financial assistance program.
The Board will review student fees in February 2022, and anticipates decreasing the amount of the combined fee for the 2022-23 school year. Additionally, families that have textbooks at home are encouraged to contact Beck’s Bookstore by June 15, 2021, to sell back those items and receive either a credit to next year’s fee or a cash payment.
