        The last day of school for Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High School students will be Tuesday, June 8.  Glenbrook High School District Summer School will be held at Glenbrook South High School.  Summer school begins June 16 and first semester ends July 7.  Second semester begins July 8 and the last day of summer school is July 28.  Glenbrook Summer School serves both Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South students, freshmen through seniors, who are enrolled for the 2010/2011 school year.    Courses will be offered in the applied arts, fine arts, consumer education, health education, driver education, physical education, study/learning skills, English, mathematics, science, social studies, special education and world languages.  In addition, career summer experiences will also be offered in conjunction with the North Suburban Educational Region of Vocational Education and Oakton Community College.  Classes will meet at Oakton Community College and transportation will be provided from GBS.  The three areas of study are Careers in Business and Law, Careers in Healthcare and Careers in Engineering and Robotics.


         In accordance with Illinois statute, Glenbrook South High School will destroy temporary records for class of 2005 graduates in June.  Students who have graduated, transferred or withdrawn from Glenbrook South and would like to take possession of their temporary records may do so by contacting the school’s registrar, Claudia Bailey, prior to June 15.  Students interested in obtaining their temporary records should contact 847-486-4535, or e-mail cbailey@glenbrook.k12.il.us.  Only temporary records will be destroyed.  In accordance with the Illinois Student Records Act, Glenbrook South will retain transcript, health and awards records.

        The “Nine after Dark” Concert will be held Friday, June 4 at 6:30 p.m. and repeated at 8:30 p.m.  The concert will be held in the choir room.

        The Glenbrook South boys and girls tennis teams are sponsoring a “summer” fundraiser to benefit Youth Services of Glenview’s Summer Program.  Tennis team members are collecting summer items including pool bags, towels, goggles, sunglasses and sunscreen, all items that will help families have summer fun.  There is a collection bin in the Student Activities office for donations.  Monetary donations are also welcome.
        In addition to the Summer Program Drive, the tennis teams will be raising awareness for Sun Safety and Skin Cancer Prevention within the Glenbrook South Community.  This portion of the project is meant to promote the Susan Steel Ishida “Skin of Steel” initiative.  For more information:  http://www.skinofsteel.org/


        Glenbrook South High School has qualified five students, two debaters and three speech students,  to the National Forensics League
national debate and speech tournament, the Nationals, to be held June-13-18 in Kansas City.   Over 200 students in the Northern Illinois District competed for the two top slots in debate and speech competitions to qualify for the national tournament.  The Northern Illinois District qualifying tournament was held March 5 and 6 at Glenbrook North High School, Greg Malis was the tournament director.  Students competed in four categories of debate and six categories of speech.

        Registration for 2010/2011 bus service for Glenbrook South High School has begun.  Parents can save up to $150 if they register by June 4.  There is no increase in bus fees for 2010/11 and a 50% discount for siblings was initiated.  Bus service for the first student in a family is at regular price, but any additional children ride at half price.  Registration is online or by mail.  Pay online and receive a $25 discount.  The bus cost is $650 if paid online by June 4; register on paper by June 4 and the cost is $675.  After June 4, the online cost is $775 and paper registration is $800.  To register and pay online, please click here.         Glenbrook Summer Athletic Camp Catalogs have been sent home to parents of incoming freshmen through seniors.  Athletic Camp information is online at: http://camps.glenbrook225.org/glenbrook/. Registration begins online February 15.  
  
        Information about Glenbrook Summer School is online at summerschool.glenbrook225.org.  Summer School will be held at Glenbrook South this year.  The first semester runs from June 16-July 7 and second semester runs from July 8 through July 28.  Summer school registration begins March 15 for incoming seniors, March 16 for juniors, March 17 for sophomores and March 18 for freshmen.  Brochures will not be mailed home.  Register online, pay online, or print out invoice with four days to pay in person at either GBN or GBS.   A small supply of Summer School brochures will be available at GBN and GBS.
