AP ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE 283

GRADE: 11/12 LENGTH: 2 SEM.  The AP Environmental Science course is a college level course designed to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.  Environmental Science is interdisciplinary; it embraces a wide variety of topics from different areas of study.  A major emphasis of this laboratory course is field investigation.  All students who enroll in this course must take the Advanced Placement Examination, which can provide college credit for students achieving adequate scores.  Prerequisite:  Biology 163/173, Chemistry 163/173, Physics 163/173, and/or the recommendation of the Instructional Supervisor for Science.
