 ACT and SAT Information 

Glenbrook North High School Code (CEEB): 143-215

The ACT is required by all the state schools in Illinois and accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the United States. Juniors are advised to take the ACT in February, April or June. Illinois State Scholars are selected on the basis of ACT/SAT scores and/or GPA at the end of junior year.
 
ACT encourages all students to register online. (Note: As of the 2010-2011 testing year, online options have been added for students who wish to test standby and for students with disabilities).  Before you can register, you will need to create a free ACT web account at ACTstudent.org You can register and print your admission ticket, view scores, send scores, and much more from your ACT account.

PLEASE NOTE: Glenbrook North High School does not record test scores on transcripts or applications.  It is the student's responsibility to request the testing company to send their scores directly to the college(s).

Juniors are encouraged to take the SAT in either the April, May or June. SAT subject tests should be taken if they are completing a course in which they have done better than average work and SAT subject tests are required by the college (s) to which they are applying.

The College Board recommends students register online (Note: Students with disabilities may register online once they have received their Eligibility Approval Letter; students who wish to test standby may not register online. They need to bring a completed paper registration form and check for all fees to the test center no later than 7:45 a.m. on the day of testing.)

PSAT/NMSQT
(National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)

The PSAT/NMSQT is recommended for all juniors who are college bound and who also wish to compete in the National Merit Scholarship program. This is an excellent practice test for the SAT. 


PRAIRIE STATE ACHIEVEMENT EXAM (PSAE)

The Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE) is an Illinois state mandated test for juniors.  It measures the achievement of 11th graders in reading, mathematics, science and writing. The PSAE includes three components: the ACT Plus Writing, an ISBE-developed science assessment, and two Work Keys assessments (Reading for Information and Applied Mathematics).

The PLAN test ("pre-ACT") is part of a program designed to assist sophomores with academic and career development and to assist students in preparing for the ACT assessment. All sophomores take the PLAN Test.
