GBN’S 20th GRAD NIGHT…
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
WHAT IS GRAD NIGHT?
GRAD NIGHT is a drug-free and alcohol-free all night celebration for graduating GBN seniors. The event is held at our High School on the evening of graduation. Graduates check in at 11:00 p.m. and are not allowed to leave the celebration until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
There is no cost for admission and all graduating GBN seniors are invited.
WHY HAVE A GBN GRAD NIGHT CELEBRATION?
The short answer to this question is, to safeguard GBN graduates on the night of their graduation. After a tragic graduation night in Maine claimed the lives of 12 seniors, parents decided to fight back. The idea of GRAD NIGHT was born. For twenty years now, the GBN Grad Night Committee has been organizing this drug-free and alcohol-free all night party!
HOW DOES GBN GRAD NIGHT HAPPEN?
The GRAD NIGHT committee, made up of parent volunteers with students in all grade levels at GBN, spends hundreds of hours each year to make this a very special event. However, to keep over 500 graduates busy and happy from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., necessitates the love, support and involvement of our entire community. GRAD NIGHT happens as a result of the cooperation of hundreds of parent volunteers, local businesses, civic organizations, the GBN administration and staff and many other members of the Northbrook community.
HOW CAN I HELP, MY CHILD IS NOT A SENIOR?
An undertaking such as this requires a large investment of both time and money. All parents are asked to support Grad Night. There are many ways that you can help. Hundreds of volunteers are needed the week-end of GRAD NIGHT to decorate, set-up, supervise and clean up. The Steering Committee is always looking for cash donations, donations of food, and donations of appropriate prizes for raffles and gifts for the graduates.
REMEMBER YOUR CHILD WILL BE A SENIOR ONE DAY AND WILL BENEFIT FROM THE SAME SUPPORT OF OUR GBN COMMUNITY!
