The culminating festival concert featured two honor bands, a freshman/sophomore, and a junior/senior band. Both bands were comprised of the very best high school wind and percussion players on the North Shore. Students were selected on the basis of the nominations and recommendations submitted by Mark Running, Director of Bands at Glenbrook North. Other high schools selected to submit nominations and recommendations included Deerfield, Glenbrook South, New Trier, Evanston, Highland Park, Niles North, Lake Forest, Niles West, and Stevenson High Schools.
Students who will perform with the freshman/sophomore Honor Band include flutist Heidi Kwak, clarinetists Alex Damisch, and Sylvia Moon, trumpeter Morgen Low, French Hornist Jenna Mendelson, trombonist Rob Blumstein and percussionist Patrick Carey. This band will be under the baton of Dr. David Vroman, Director of Bands at Bradley University.
Students who will perform with the junior/senior Honor Band included flutist Kenna Delmar, oboist Margaret Stanielun, clarinetist Kaitlyn Reinwald, French Hornist Josh Wolken, Trombonist Jeremy Sims, and Euphonium player Annie Luc. This band will be under the baton of Dr. Robert Rumbelow, the newly appointed Director of Bands at the University of Illinois.
The festival concert was held Saturday, January 16 at Lake Forest High School, 1285 North McKinley Road, Lake Forest, IL. The concert was free and open to the public.
