What do we offer your child? Preschool is often a child's first group experience outside of daily family life. In a rich and stimulating environment, the child is interested and motivated to safely explore the world around him. We help the child to establish positive social relationships with children his own age, and he learns to trust adults. These experiences help develop a positive self concept (self esteem), and a positive attitude toward school.

We use a wide range of materials and media to stimulate motor and intellectual development. Play is an important part of our program. Through "play" the child learns to express himself in many ways; to think critically, solve problems creatively, and to interact positively in group situations. Dramatic and imaginative play helps the child to better understand himself, his family, and his community. And . . . it's fun!!!

Through teacher structured and student choice activities, the child touches, tastes, smells, hears, and sees the world around him. Our program is creatively planned with the child's mind, skills and interests always of first consideration. The quality and continuity of learning is maintained by a yearly curriculum. We encourage the child to express himself in experiences that most interest him, and to experiment in a safe non-threatening environment new skills, activities and ideas. We believe it is most important to encourage each child according to his/her developmental level.

How Does a Preschool Fit Into a High School Setting?
GBN Preschool is a laboratory school for our high school child development program. It is located within the high school facility. We have a well-equipped preschool room with materials to promote independence, problem-solving skills, pro-social skills, language skills, large/small muscle coordination, and a positive self concept. Under the direction of our professional staff, our high school student teachers come into the preschool to observe, aide, and to teach in the preschool, along with the preschool teacher.
