announcements.

Activity Vacancies for 2010-11

Assistant Speech Coach - Glenbrook South High School is seeking an assistant speech coach for their nationally recognized speech program.  Especially interested in impromptu and extemporary speech events.  Please send an email of interest and resume to Dr. Jim Shellard at jshellard@glenbrook225.org

The Evening School is seeking a Math Teacher for 2010-2011.  The class will meet once a week on Thursday nights for 15 weeks.  Interested individuals should contact Frank Santa, Principal of Evening School at (847) 486-4465 or email at fsanta@glenbrook.k12.il.us.

Teacher Mentors - Faculty members are needed to serve as mentors to first and second year teachers/certified staff for the 2010-2011 school year.  To apply, please send an email to dtimpe@glenbrook225.org

Glenbrook South has the following openings for club sponsors.  Interested applicants should contact Jim Shellard by email at jshellard@glenbrook.k12.il.us.

Onward House - Co-Sponsor - The sponsor will work with students in a tutoring capacity at the Onward House in Chicago.  This is a weekly responsibility shared with another teacher (Bob Cowell).  This position involves chaperoning the bus trips to and from the Onward House and working with the student board in ensuring student participation.  This is one of our longest running service groups and an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students and young people in Chicago. 
Academic Bowl Assistant Coach - Members of the Academic Bowl Team meet weekly for quiz bowl practices and compete against other schools in scholastic bowl competition.  Weekly meetings and contests.
De La Cru Club Coach - This dance group focuses on rhythm and hip hop to create dance routines for athletic events, local performances, and the yearly dance show.  Weekly meetings and various performances.
Key Club Advisor - The Key Club is open to any interested student and encompasses a wide range of activities designed to aid the school and community.  Weekly meetings and weekend service projects.
Student to Student Advisor - Student to student is a group of students dedicated to a drug and alcohol free lifestyle.  Activities include Snowball, Red Ribbon Week and a variety of social events.  Weekly meetings and several weekend social outings.
