MONTHLY MENTAL ILLNESS PARENT SUPPORT GROUP 

When:  Ongoing, beginning September 21 and the third Friday of each month,  

Time:  9:30-11:00 AM

Where:  Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Ave., 60091

The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Cook County North Suburban (NAMI-CCNS), invites the public to attend its “Parent Support Group” for families of children and adolescents with mental health issues such as school phobia, difficulties making friends,  falling apart at home, smoking and drugs, rages, depression, anxiety, etc. Share your problems and hear how others have dealt with these problems. Hear ideas that can help you take care of yourself and your family. Talk confidentially with no fear of stigma or shame. No registration required. Call 847-716-2252 for more information.


NORTH/NORTHWEST COOK AND LAKE COUNTY WORKGROUP

  • Meets Monthly, ususally on the third Thursday of the month at 9:30am

  • Membership and attendance are open to anyone with an interest in developmental disability issues.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK

NSSRA is proud to offer a series of social programs for young adults.  The Social Network will meet on a monthly basis and will offer young adults a variety of social opportunities through which they may meet new people, improve peer social interaction and initiate leisure opportunities with peers.

Criteria for joining The Social Network include all of the following:

·         17 to 26 years olds
·         Asperger’s Syndrome, Learning Disabilities, High Functioning Autism
·         Independent functioning within a 1:5 staff ratio

What:  Sunday Super Bowl Party:  Let’s get ready to have a fun filled evening with great friends and good food.  We will order pizza, pop and wings for dinner. If the weather is nice we will play our own game of football. Baggo, cards, and other games will be available as we spend a fun evening hanging out together!

What:  Enchanted Castle Outing:  Come on out and join the group as we head to Enchanted Castle. We will spend this exciting evening playing mini golf, competing in laser tags games, and playing arcade games. NSSRA will order pizza and drinks for dinner. NSSRA will also cover the cost of mini golf, laser tag, and $5.00 worth of tokens. Please bring extra money if you would like to purchase additional tokens or participate in more activities at Enchanted Castle.

Time:  5-7 PM

SUPPORT GROUP FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER

This group offers parents the opportunity to meet and share experiences with other parents dealing with this difficult disorder.

When:  Mondays:  6:30pm to 8pm
