Board recognizes GBN cast of 'Memphis'

During the January 28 meeting, the Board recognized Glenbrook North students Nathan Salstone, Charlie Laughlin, Isabella Andrews and Eric von Holst, and teachers Julie Ann Robinson and Andy Wallace for their performances and involvement in the All-State Musical “Memphis.”

Earlier this month, the group traveled down state to perform in the All-State Musical, "Memphis," at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival.  Students from across the state auditioned to be part of this highly select cast of performers. This was the first amateur production of "Memphis," performed by special arrangement with the authors and producers.

Salstone was cast in the lead role. Those selected to perform in the orchestra included student musicians Laughlin (guitarist), Andrews (keyboard) and von Holst (Bass player).

Wallace served in the second most important role on the production team as vocal director, and Robinson as an assistant to the director.

Additionally, Aaron Kaplan, a former GBN student and cellist, was selected as the orchestra pit conductor.

The Illinois High School Theatre Festival is the largest high school festival in the world.
