Animal Rights Club

Members of this club discuss and advocate for the fair treatment of animals.
 

Anime 
The Anime club focuses on the various forms of Japanese animated art. Students are encouraged to draw and view various forms of this rapidly developing art form. They meet one day a week and share animated video, print art, as well as their own artwork.

Business Professionals of America
Members compete in a wide variety of business areas providing experience and professional opportunities.

Meet during one semester a year with fellow cheese-o-philes to discuss and sample cheeses from around the world.

  

Chess Club 
This club develops the basic skills to play the game of chess. Fundamentals are taught to various levels from beginners to advanced chess players.

CosPlay Club
Explore fashion and how to create it, and make your own costumes for anime, manga, rpgs, jrock and jpop.

The Cure
Come help raise funds and awareness to fight cancer.
 

Debate 
The Glenbrook South Debate Society is a nationally-recognized competitive program that allows students to sharpen their critical thinking, research, and argumentation skills.  We have a long tradition of competitive success, lined with numerous state and national titles.  The GBS Debate Society is open to any interested students...come be a part of our winning tradition.

Explore and celebrate Indian culture and customs.

 

Engineering Club
Engineering Club is a contest encouraging the use of engineering and mathematics solutions to solve unique problems.

 

French Club
Activities for the French Club members include trips to French restaurants, plays, films, and participation in the "Festival of Lights."

 

German Club
German Club promotes the study of the German language and culture.

 

Girls' Letter Club
All girls who have won a varsity letter at South are eligible to join. Activities include the promoting of girls' athletics and the sponsorship of Turnabout.

 

GSA 
GSA is a gay/straight alliance whose purpose is to help promote a safe school environment through knowledge, conversation, and awareness of gay rights and issues. The club also plans programs and activities for teachers and students to educate them about the importance of tolerance in our school and community.

 

Hellenic Club
Explore Greek culture, including food and architecture.

 

H.O.L.A.
H.O.L.A. is open to all students and focuses upon Hispanic culture. Students are encouraged to participate in cultural and community service projects.

 

Horticulture Judging Team
The Horticulture Judging Team is for students interested in botany and plant identification. The team competes against other schools and is the defending State Horticulture Champion.

 

Interact
Interact is open to juniors and seniors who are interested in public service projects and helping those in need.

 

Japanese Club
Learn about Japanese culture, food, and cinema.

Juggling Club
The Juggling Club is comprised of students interested in juggling. No experience or level of expertise is required. Training is provided at weekly meetings. The Juggling Club performs for various school and community functions.

 
Key Club
The Key Club is open to any interested student and encompasses a wide range of activities designed to aid the school and community. The major prerequisite is a willingness to participate in service-to-others projects. 
 

Mathletes
Mathletes provides an opportunity for strong math students to compete in intramural and interscholastic math contests.

 

Mock Trial Team
Members of the Mock Trial Team research legal cases which culminate in the reenactment of the court room drama. Competition also takes place with other high schools of which judging is done by members of the legal profession.

Model UN
Become a government diplomat in this simulation of the real United Nations and join other schools to learn about civics, communication, globalization, and diplomacy on an international level.
 

Pep Club
An organization comprised of students interested in boosting spirit throughout GBS. Activities include sign painting, athletic attendance, group cheers and community service.

 

Polish Club
Explore Polish culture and nosh on delicious pierogies!

Project Earth
Join a group of committed students dedicated to educating others about global issues.

Science Olympiad
Students work as teams to compete in a variety of science areas.  The formats for these competitions mirror popluar board games, TV shows, and athletic games.

Shakespeare and Company
This group of students reads, discusses and attends the plays of William Shakespeare. Participation in the National Shakespeare Performance Competition is also encouraged.

 

Sign Language Club
The sign language club learns sign language as a means of communicating with the deaf and hard of hearing.

 

Spanish Club
Spanish Club members participate in various student run cultural festivals and study Spanish culture and language.

STAND

This is a group dediated to eliminating genocide around the world.  Students are currently working to stop genocide in Darfur.
 

Student To Student 
Student to Student is a group of students dedicated to a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. Activities include "Snowball," Red Ribbon Week and presentations at local elementary and junior high schools.

Titan Poms - Visit Club Website
The Titan Poms are Glenbrook South's award winning dance team. They perform at halftime of all home football and basketball games as well as compete on a state and national level.

 

Tutoring Project
The purpose of this organization is to tutor inner city school children at Onward House in Chicago on Tuesday evenings during the school year. In the spring the group takes the children to a zoo or museum.
